Light of the World

People say that we are not under the Old Covenant and the Old Testament is not for us New Testament Christians.  "We follow Christ" they say.  But Yeshua was a Jew from the tribe of Judah.  When the bible says His own received Him not ,it is talking about the Jews, not all the Israelites.  In Proverbs 6:23 it says "the commandment is a lamp; and the law (torah) is a light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life".  Your lamp is the commandments, and the Torah is the light given off from the lamp.  Yeshua is our living example of how Torah is to be lived out. Just like the passover lamb was to be without blemish so was He.  He never sinned.  What was sin?  The breaking of Yahweh's commandments/laws.
This is why Pontus Pilate said He finds no fault with Him. John 18: 37-38Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
38Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.

He says, "I am the Light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" John 8:12. To walk in darkness means to not follow Torah.  Yeshua said that his doctrine (instruction) was not his own but the One who sent Him (John 7:16).  The One who sent Him ,well, His intruction was Torah.
