Should You Call Yourself Christian?

I recently heard that the Apostles were first called Christians by pagans in Antioch.  That got me thinking.  So I looked up how many times the word Christian was used.

Acts 11:26
And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

Acts 26:28
Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

1 Peter 4:16
Yet if any as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

What is interesting is that this is not what they called themselves or each other.  What did they call themselves?  (Bond)servant.  In fact, that is what Yeshua called anyone that followed Him.  Yeshua told us to have a servant's heart.

Mat_24:46
Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

Rom_1:1
Paul, a servant of Yeshua, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of Elohim

Rom_16:1
I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea:

1Co_7:22
For he that is called in the Adonia, being a servant, is the Adonia's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Yeshua's servant.

Gal_1:10
For do I now persuade men, or Elohim? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Yeshua.

Col_4:12
Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Yeshua, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of Elohim.

Tit_1:1

Paul, a servant of Elohim, and an apostle of Yeshua, according to the faith of Elohim's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

Phm_1:25
The grace of our Adonia Yeshuabe with your spirit. Amen. Written from Rome to Philemon, by Onesimus a servant.

Heb_3:5
And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

Jas_1:1
James, a servant of Elohim and of the Adonia Yeshua, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

2Pe_1:1
Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Yeshau, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of Elohim and our Saviour Yeshua:

Jud_1:1
Jude, the servant of Yeshua, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by Elohim the Father, and preserved in Yeshua, and called:

Rev_1:1
The Revelation of Yeshua, which Elohim gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

Rev_15:3
And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of Elohim, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Adonia ElohimAlmighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

Well, to me that says alot.  Just a side note when you look up the word servant in Greek it says bondservant.  Anyway.  I think that I would rather be called a bondservant than a christian.  It was a name given to them by pagans and I wonder if more in a derogatory way than good. When Peter talks about suffering as a christian it was life for being called a bad thing.  He had said that don't suffer as a murderer, thief, evil doer, or busybody of men's matters.  But if you are called a christian suffer in that name calling.  Give Him Glory.  But it was not a label they gave themselves.  Would you want to take on a label from pagans?  Me neither.  So, what is a bondservant?  Good question.  Hopefully, next post.

Blessings!!!
