9th of Av

On the 9th of Av throughout history many tragedies befell the Israelites/Jewish people, including:

  1. The incident of the spies slandering the land of Israel with the subsequent decree to wander the desert for 40 years.
  2. The destruction of the first Temple in Jerusalem by Nevuchadnetzar, King of Babylon in 423 BCE.
  3. The destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 CE.
  4. The fall of Betar and the end of the Bar Kochba revolt against the Romans 65 years later, 135 CE.
  5. Pope Urban II declared the First Crusade. Tens of thousands of Jews were killed, and many Jewish communities obliterated.
  6. The Jews of England were expelled in 1290.
  7. The Jews of Spain were expelled in 1492.
  8. World War One broke out on Tisha B'Av in 1914 when Russia declared war on Germany. German resentment of the Treaty of Versailles set the stage for World War II and the Holocaust.
  9. On Tisha B'Av, deportation began of Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto.
I am just in awe that all these happened on this date.  It is very sad.  Now I see why the jews spend time in mourning.

I was wondering why. Why did a shooting happen in Colorado?  What is in the water over there?  Then a friend posted this on Facebook.  This is really interesting.

Today in History 7/23

In 333 BCE, the prophet Nehemia began to rebuild the destroyed wall around Jerusalem, as recorded in the biblical Book of Nehemia. This was a first stage in the restoration of the capital, crowned by the construction of the Second Holy Temple a few years later.

Death of the High Priest

This is interesting.  A person who unintentionally kills someone is sent into exile, into a city of Refuge and cannot return to their ancestral land until the High Priest has died. The High Priest was a mediator between the people and Elohim. Because of His death, a substitute, we receive Life.  We are in exile. We are unintentional killers of Yeshua.  Our sin put Him on the cross. But we seek refuge IN Him.

Because right now, He is our High Priest but one day that job will be laid down and then He returns as King.  So, does that mean until Yeshua comes back as King that we will not be able to return to the land? Just like Joshua was the one to take the Israelites in, so too Yeshua will take us in?  Just thinking.

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack tells White House Drought Getting Worse

Agriculture Secretary said he was praying everyday for rain, he told Obama the drought is not as bad as in the last great drought of 1988. "I get on my knees everyday and I'm saying an extra prayer right now," Vilsack said. "If I had a rain prayer or a rain dance I could do, I would do it."  You can read the whole article by Russ Blinch here!

Proverbs 28:9 "He that turneth away his ear from hearing the TORAH, even his PRAYER shall be abomination."

We are now in the seven lean years!  Things will only continue to get worse.  We need to wake up!

Hearts Beat Slower on Sabbath!

Heart Beats Slowly on Saturdays!
“Tests that have been made on body processes have determined that for everybody, regardless of religious belief, the heart beats more slowly on Saturday than on any other day of the week. Even if a person has a day off on any other day of the week, the heart still beats more slowly on Saturdays.”
- Gunther B. Paulien, Ph.D. The Divine Prescripton, p. 107
You May Wonder Why?
Because, "God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." ( Genesis 2:3)

The Harbinger by Jonathon Cahn

This book I could not put down.  If you have not read this yet.  You must.  It is unbelievable.  It is told in story form but all truth.  It is based on 9/11 and the harbingers that followed that ties it back to the Northern Kingdom of Israel.  America is repeating a cycle from Ancient Israel. As we all know we are descendants of them, Ephraim, house of Israel, etc.   It is absolutely shocking to believe all these events happened and we don't know about it.  And also after reading this there is no way you can say Torah is done away with.  I highly recommend this book!
