He Is A Jealous Elohim

This past torah portion Numbers 5:12-31 Nasso (to lift up, bear) brings up the Law of Jealousies and drinking of bitter water.

There are so many interesting things about this Law of Jealousy.  If a man thinks that his wife has been unfaithful but there are no witnesses, he can bring her into the tabernacle/temple court to the Priest and test her to see if she has been unfaithful.  The husband brings tenth part of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put frankincense thereon; for it is an offering of jealousy, an offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to remembrance.  The Priest takes the woman and sets her before YHWH and he takes an earthen vessel, takes water from the laver and dust from the floor and puts it into the water. He puts the offering in her hand and the Priest holds the bitter water that causes the curse.  Then he charges her by the oath saying if she is innocent she is free from the bitter water that causes the curse but then he charges her with an oath of cursing if she is guilty that YHWH make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the Lord doth make thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell.  Then the Priest writes the curses in a book, pours the bitter water over the words and blots them out.  She literaly drinks the words.  He then takes the offering and waves it before YHWH and offers it upon the altar.  She is then made to drink the water that becomes bitter.   If she is defiled her belly will swell and her thigh to rot and she is a curse among her people.  But if she be not defiled, but clean then she is free and shall concieve seed.  Wow!  This is a picture of the Bride of Yeshua! The whole house of Israel commited adultery. The Israelites was His Bride.  They was spiritually married to Him at Shavout!  Then over time they broke covenant with Him and went after the world' ways and other gods.  He is a jealous Elohim! Exodus 34:14 "For thou shalt worship no other god: for the YHWH, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous Elohim" Hmmm!  Remember when Yeshua was in the temple court and they bring the woman caught in the act?  He bends down and is writing in the dirt.  He then tells the men to cast the first stone and none could.  He sends her away and says sin no more and He doesn't even condemn her.  That is us.  He came only for the House of Israel and their/our sin of adultery to forgive us. He had to die so we could be released from the first covenant so we could marry again. Pauls talks about this in Rom. 7:1-3. Yeshua gave His life that we might become the spotless bride and be restored to the fellowship He intended since the beginning of mankind.

 I find it interesting that the offering is barley being that barley represents Yeshua.  So, here we have now she is to drink this water and if she is guilty her belly will swell and her thigh will rot.  Let's talk about the thigh.  When promises were made sometimes the hand was put under the thigh as is making this promise like with Abraham and his servant Gen 24:2,9.  But what really caught my ear was what happens when a woman's belly swells?  It means she is pregnant.  Going to give birth and the Bible talks about a woman in birth pangs. But with this there is no baby.  It is a fake pregnancy.  Kind of like other religions/Christianity.  There is no fruit of the womb.  It is only until we are repent and are forgiven and start walking in Torah that we produce fruit.  Like the woman found innocent then she can concieve seed.

Both Rev. 10:9-10 and Eze. 3:3 talk about eating a book and it being sweet as honey but bitter in the belly.  I think, in my opinion, that Torah is sweet as honey but if we have sinned it will become bitter in our belly and bring the curse.  Wormwood.  From the root word meaning to curse, poisonous.  Let's look at some scriptures:

Deu_29:18
Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;

Pro 5:3-4
For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.

Jer_9:15
Therefore thus saith the YHWH of hosts, the Elohim of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.

Jer_23:15
Therefore thus saith the YHWH of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land.

Rev_8:11
And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

Because of our turning away(apostasty) we were fed wormwood and became a curse.  But thank you Yeshua.  He was the one walking between the pieces when the covenant was made while Abraham slept (Genesis 15). So, He had to be the one who died (for us).  Isn't He Beautiful? He is Wonderful, our Healer.

The cup of bitter water.  I believe this is the cup that Yeshua asks the Father to remove from Him.  Luke 22:42 Remember in the garden of Gesetheme?  He prays.  But then says not my will but yours.  He had to drink the cup of bitter water for us.  He became the curse. Gal 3:13 "Yeshua hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:" Just like Moses took a tree and put it into the bitter water and made it sweet.  Yeshua died on a tree for us.  Colossians 2:14 says, "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross".   He is Jealous for us.  Psa 135:4  "For the YHWH hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure."  We are His peculiar treasure and he has sold everything for that treasure in that field.   Now it is up to us.  Rom 7:4 "Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Messiah; that ye should be married to another, to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto Elohim."

Blessings!!!
