Stop and Listen

Does it ever seem like the cares of this world, or the life we live, get in the way of listening to what Elohim is saying. It seems we're too nervous or concerned about what others might think, that we forget to be concerned about what Elohim thinks. Sometimes we just need to take the first step, and when we do, we'll find Elohim waiting for us. Take for instance Moshe (Moses) and the story of the burning bush.

Exodus 3:1-4

'Now Moshe was tending the sheep of Yitro (Jethro) his father-in-law, the priest of Midyan. Leading the flock to the far side of the desert, he came to the mountain of Elohim, to Horev. The angel of Adonai appeared to him in a fire blazing from the middle of a bush. He looked and saw that although the bush was flaming with fire, yet the bush was not being burned up. Moshe said, "I'm going to go over and see this amazing sight and find out why the bush insn't being burned up." When Adonai saw that he had gone over to see, Elohim called to him from the middle of the bush, "Moshe! Moshe!" He answerd, "Here I am."

Let's look for a minute at what Moshe did. First, he didn't pass by this amazing thing. Moshe saw something that many others had probably just ignored. Second, Moshe took the first step; by taking that first step, Moshe let Adonai is in life like never before. Think of the journey Moshe took after this one little step of faith. Finally, what did Moshe get when he did this? A direct, one-on-one conversation with Elohim that would not only change his life forever, but forever, that of mankind's!

So as we continue to read the scriptures, let's not glance over things because the kids soccer game is in an hour, or the dryer just went off waiting for clothes to be folded. Life is going to be here, it happens all around us, everyday. When we listen to what's being presented in the word, especially when its out of the norm or might challenge a long held belief we have, take the time to research and understand what it is that's been presented. It might just be the equivalent of a 'burning bush', and when we take that first step, Elohim will be waiting there for us, to guide us through just like he did with Moshe.
